2019 BOARD OF TRUSTEES – PARENT TRUSTEE ELECTIONS

School trustees have a very important role in making sure every child achieves their potential at school.
Here are some of the things they do:
Work with the principal and consult with staff, students and the community
Set the educational goals and strategic direction of the school
Monitor progress and let parents know how the school is progressing against its annual targets and
how well students are achieving
Decide how the school’s funding will be spent
Select the school’s principal and support the development of all staff
Oversee the management of staff, property, finances, curriculum and administration.
This year is an election year for Parent Trustees. There are five (5) Parent Trustee positions.
Parent Trustees are elected by the parent community.
In state-integrated schools there are four trustees appointed by the proprietor (unless the
proprietor agrees to reduce the number of appointed trustees).
The Staff Trustee is elected by the Board of Trustees staff at the school.
The Student Trustee is elected by the Year 9 – 13 student body.
There must always be more elected Parent Trustees then appointed Proprietor’s Trustees.
Our Board Trustees include the following:
Five elected Parent Trustees (Term in office, 3 years)
One elected Staff Trustee (Term in Office, 3 years)
One elected Student Trustee (Term in Office, 1 year)
Four appointed Proprietor’s Trustees (Appointed)
Nominations will be called Friday, 10 May 2019.

Close supplementary roll noon: Wednesday 22 May 2019
Nominations close noon: Friday 24 May 2019
Voting papers sent by: Wednesday 29 May 2019
Close poll election day noon: Friday 7 June 2019
Count votes: Thursday 13 June 2019
Board takes office: Friday 14 June 2019
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the school. The Board has certain obligations to meet as required by the Education Act 1989 and other legislation. Some of these obligations are; responsibility for school property, personnel, financial management and reporting to the school community. The Board of Trustees monitors management practices to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum, establishes goals, develops and reviews policies. The Principal reports to, and is appraised by the Board.
