The music department has had a very busy term 2 with the extra-curricular events and competitions happening in the Tamaki Makaurau region!

Tangata Beats: On Saturday May 20th , Tribe 801 2023, competed in the regional heats. This year we combined with Selwyn College. Our core rhythm section returned after a triumphant and successful campaign in 2022 (Alex, Kelepi and Jacob) along with the following band line up:

Students:

Velolini Puamau (year 9), Brooke Tilton-Mist and Catherine Anitoni (year 10) vocalists

Alex Alefosio year 13 (bass guitar)

Sekove Tuisuva year 13 (keyboard)

Kelepi Falekaono year 13 (drums)

Jacob Saki year 13 (rap)

Christopher Paea year 13 (guitarist)

Elvis Bilitaki (Selwyn College) year 11 lead guitarist

The pressure was on this year after making national finals in 2022 and coming second at regional finals 2022. Our song “Brown Vision” was composed by our senior band members. The students will progress through to the Regional finals. Well done to all involved.
