Wesley College Celebrates Cook Islands Language Week
Sunday 30 July – Saturday 5 August

THANK YOU to Mrs Faitala and the Cook Islands students who will lead chapel this week on Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri.

This year’s theme for ‘Epetoma o te reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani – Cook Islands Language Week is:

'Ātuitui’ia au ki te au peu o tōku kāinga Ipukarea, which means, "connect me to the traditions & culture of my homeland".

Try these phrases:

  • Kia Orana! – Hello (May you be well)
  • Pe’ea koe? – How are you?
  • Meitaki Ma’ata – Thank you very much
  • ‘Aere ra - Goodbye
  • Kia Manuia! – Farewell (All the best – Good luck)

The week will end on Friday with lunch a la Kuki Airani style.

Go well to all those who will lead chapel worship this week.

Meitaki rava

Rev Ali'itasi Aoina-Salesa
Superintending Chaplain / Dean
