On Wednesday 12 August a small group of 7 Wesley College students travelled to the University of Auckland to participate in the Waipapa Ōhanga Rau day. This day is designed to empower our tauira Māori and connect them to a world of opportunities at Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland. This programme is specifically designed for tauira Māori thinking about their next steps for the future. Through whanaungatanga, cultural grounding, and guidance from tuakana, the programme encourages rangatahi to see university as an achievable pathway and sets them up for success. 

Congratulations to the following students for fully participating in the day and representing Wesley College as perfect ambassadors: Alysha Thexton, Sofia Baker, Duvall Reihana, Sonny Bill Hemopo, Mikaera Matthews-Borell, Joaquin Nathan and Bess Phillips.

It was lovely to meet up with former Wesley students Moeata Ngataki and Akesa Sosefo who are now successfully studying at the University of Auckland.
