GROOMING AND HAIR CUTS
As we reach the midpoint of the term, this is a good opportunity to reinforce the high standards and expectations we have for student uniform, appearance, and grooming.
These standards contribute to the positive culture, pride, and sense of belonging that we value at Wesley College.
Thank you for the wonderful response to the idea of having haircuts available here at school from our aspiring student barbers. I did not expect such a positive level of support, and it clearly demonstrates that our community is fully behind our grooming standards and high expectations. It is encouraging to see students, parents, and whaanau embracing an initiative that both upholds our standards and provides valuable opportunities for students to develop practical skills and experience.

SCHOOL BALL
Our School Ball will be held on Saturday, 5 September. A huge thank you to our student leaders and Ball Committee, who have done a fantastic job fundraising and preparing for what promises to be a memorable evening.
As we approach the event, it is important to remind students and whānau that the School Ball is a school event, and all normal school rules and expectations continue to apply. There is no reason for students to be growing their hair or facial hair in preparation for the Ball. Our standards regarding grooming, appearance, and uniform expectations remain unchanged, and we appreciate the support of families in ensuring these are maintained.
We look forward to celebrating this special occasion with our students while continuing to uphold the high standards that define Wesley College.
IMPORTANT DATES AND EVENTS COMING UP
There are several important events and assessments coming up over the next few weeks.
Next week is the Under 15 Tournament Week, and we wish all participating students the very best.
Students will also be completing their Prerequisite Literacy, Reading, and Numeracy assessments over the next few weeks, along with Senior Practice Examinations that start. These assessments are very important. In particular, if a student is unable to sit their NZQA external examinations later in the year due to illness or injury, evidence from practice examinations may be required to support an application for a derived grade.
As we approach the end of the term, we will also be holding Student-Led Conferences. This is a valuable opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet with their children and teachers, review progress, celebrate achievements, and discuss goals as we prepare for a successful Term 4. We strongly encourage all families to take part.
LOMU FILM DAY
Please see the invitation below for students, staff and whānau to the South AKL LOMU Film Day, a special family-friendly community event celebrating the life and legacy of Jonah Lomu.
Born in Pukekohe and raised in Māngere, educated at Wesley College, Jonah’s story is deeply connected to our local communities and continues to inspire young people across Aotearoa and around the world.

HEALTH CLINIC PRESCRIBING NURSE
Please note that one of the nurses in the school health clinic can prescribe for common illnesses and conditions for all students. All treatments are free.
