Tuesday, 20th October we celebrated the graduation of close to 30 Year 10, 11 and 12 students who completed the Puatala Next Leaders course. The course was designed to have a strong Methodist and Wesleyan lens, the programme focused on developing leadership grounded in faith, service and character.
The quality of the course was evident in the student presentations. Every students spoke confidently about what they had learned, their understanding of leadership, and how they could apply these qualities at Wesley. While the group included some obvious leaders, it was equally pleasing to see a number of quieter, more reserved students step forward, thrive in the programme, and excel.
Whaanau support was also clearly evident and greatly appreciated.
The benefits of these types of investment will be significant as we move forward into our New Horizons journey. Combined with the Student Coaching Students programme (involving a further 30 students), the Student Council, and a range of other leadership opportunities, we are building strong leadership capacity across the College. This will support continued growth in academic, sporting and cultural excellence.
Thank you to Henrik and the team for the outstanding kai enjoyed by all.
