As we move closer to assessments and examinations, I want to acknowledge the commitment our students continue to show in their learning. Every lesson attended, every piece of coursework completed, and every hour of revision contributes to future success. We encourage all students to remain focused and give their best as the year draws to a close.

SPECIAL / ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The past two weeks have been filled with opportunities to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students.

• Putala Next Leaders Programme
Last Tuesday, we recognised nearly 30 students from Years 10, 11 and 12, who graduated from the Puatala Next Leaders Programme. Grounded in our Methodist values of faith, service, and character, the programme challenged students to reflect on leadership and their role within our community. The confidence, insight, and maturity shown in their presentations were outstanding, and it was heartening to see such strong support from whānau on the evening.

• Sports Prize Giving
On Wednesday, we gathered for our Annual Sports Prizegiving, celebrating the dedication, teamwork, resilience, and success of students who have represented the College throughout the year. Congratulations to all award recipients and to the coaches, managers, staff, and whānau who invest so much in creating these opportunities for our young people.

• Winstone Speech Competition
Thursday evening saw students take the stage for our Annual Speech Competition. The quality of the speeches was exceptional, showcasing not only confidence and communication skills but also courage and preparation. Every participant should be proud of their efforts.

This week alone, we have recognised Senior students with close to 100 Merit Certificates, 58 REP Achievement Certificates to years 9 and 10, and a range of Speech Competition awards. This represents around 170 students - close to half of our roll!

What makes this especially pleasing is the diversity of students being celebrated. Some excel on the rugby field, netball, others shine in Polyfest, academics, leadership, service, or the arts. These achievements reflect the kind of school culture we are striving to build, one where every student has opportunities to succeed and where effort, commitment, and character are valued alongside achievement.

Behind all of this of course, is the dedication and commitment of our staff and other members of our community who provide these opportunities.

HEALTH CLINIC PRESCRIBING NURSE
Please be aware that one of the nurses in the school health clinic can prescribe for common illnesses and conditions for all students. All treatments are free.

Finally, we are seeking feedback on a potential Year 13 leadership uniform. One option being explored is the introduction of a grey shirt and tie for Year 13 students, boys and girls, while retaining the traditional white shirt and tie as our formal No. 1 uniform. We look forward to hearing the views of students and whānau as this conversation continues
