Covid-19 Principal's Update

Kia Ora

Thank you all for your all support and efforts at home in dealing with our current Covid reality.

With your help we are holding up well here at school and teaching and learning, along with various sports and other activities continue. Our students have been superb in responding to the disruption and are working well in the classroom.

I also can’t thank all our staff across the campus for keeping school life as normal and smooth as possible, it has been a wonderful team effort.

Protocols are changing all the time. Below are the latest adjustments:

Where the positive case has been wearing a facemask, close contacts will only be identified where there may have been direct contact with respiratory secretions (for example, kissing, spitting, hongi, sharing cigarettes or vapes, singing, shouting, coughing, sneezing, contact sports or physical play in close proximity).

Those who have not yet received a result from their day five test can return to school on day 11 if they are showing no symptoms.

An important message is we have to get our students back to school!

There are many students now that are well over their isolation periods, are negative and have no symptoms, so there is no reason for them not to be at school. There will be some anxiety, but I think most students once back and settled will feel comfortable. The ‘normality’ of school life and their education is important to all students right now and being here for many will that anxiety.

Friday 25th February

A reminder that school closes at 1.30 after lunch for a teacher PPTA meeting. Day students and all boarders are free to return home. Boarders staying in over the weekend will be looked after in the afternoon.

We are also holding some fun house activities for students from 11.30 to 1.30 on Friday.

Students may come to school in mufti in their house colours. Students missed out on swimming sports and sports day which has had to be postponed, so we are sure they will enjoy something outside of the classroom.
