Fakalofa lahi atu! 😊

Day 5

The main activities for today were climbing the mast and sailing.  We sailed back to Auckland and are currently anchored at Motuihe Island/ Te Motu- a-Ihenga.  Beautiful views of the sunset over Tamaki Makaurau this evening.

Competitive activities included a knot-tying activity which proved difficult for many.  The competition finished off with the presentation of a flag design and chants.  As could be expected Wesley excelled in the Chant competition.

The evening was spent saying an emotional thank you to all the crew who looked after us during the voyage and spending time with newfound friends from the three other schools Western Heights, Solway, and Christchurch Girls.

It’s been a great trip with a lot of new learnings and experiences which the girls are very grateful for.  They have been great ambassadors for Wesley College.

Tomorrow morning, we will find out who wins the trophy for the voyage.

See you at school tomorrow.

Ahoy me hearties,

Day 3

Started with a stunning sunrise and a morning swim.  Dolphins swimming alongside the ship as well as a baby shark.

We were on “specials” or kitchen duty which meant we had to help with cooking meals and baking chocolate chip cookies and doing all the dishes for the day. There were lots of learnings about food prep from the Chef.  The girls enjoyed this so much that they asked if they could do it again.

We tried to Kayak to shore.  This was unsuccessful and we had to be rescued and towed in.  It is likely that we will not win the rowing event.

We walked the Kawau Island Copper mine trail.  Beautiful scenic walk and we were lucky enough sight Stingrays in the bay below.

Back to the ship for a swim and swinging off the ship on the swim swing.  Beautiful day for it.

Competition for the trophy is still going well.  They played their wildcard last night for the SingStar event.  Wesley is by far the best team at singing.  Currently, we are in first place – ahead by 2 points but everything could change today.

Halfway there!😊

Fakalofa lahi atu,

Greetings from Kawau Bay.

Day 2 of the voyage sees everyone in good spirits.  Day 1 was a bit rough and we had quite a bit of sea sickness but the seas are calmer and we have a day of sun, sailing, swimming and fun. Lots of singing and laughing as well as learning many new things.

After jumping off the ship first thing this morning many wanted more of that excitement and jumped off many more times more in the afternoon.

We are doing well with the trophy 🏆 competition and have won or come second in the events so far.

Lots of good energy.
May it long continue.
Don't miss us too much 😊
